Tipperary Regional Youth Service, formerly known as Cashel and Emly Youth Service, was founded in 1970 to provide a response to the needs of the young people in the region.

The core purpose of the organisation is the social, personal and educational development of young people enabling them to take greater control over their lives by being given opportunities to make choices, take decisions and exercise responsibility.

Since it’s inception TRYS has grown from virtually total dependence on volunteers to it’s current position employing full time staff in each area plus Fas Workers.

Significant milestones in this progression include  TRYS receiving it’s first full time development officer in 1980 and during the 1980′s in the receipt of funding from the National Lottery through the Dept. of Education towards the provision of youth work services for disadvantaged young people.

Currently Tipperary Regional Youth Service has projects for disadvantaged young people in Tipperary Town, Thurles, Templemore and Cashel. as well as an outreach team servicing the youth work needs of young people and rural communities.  Additionally a comprehensive youth information service is provided in Tipperary and Thurles with outreach services for schools & Community Groups on request.
